Wapping

Today was Art History and a play at the National Theatre. We didn't have to leave for class until 1:00, so I just worked on some homework and had lunch. We were meeting at Wapping Hydraulic Power Station, which has been transformed into a modern art gallery. It was so awesome.. the power house was built in 1890 and was the last one of its kind in the world to close in the 1970s. The couple that own it bought it in 1993 and created their gallery. They made sure that all the original architecture and machinery were kept in the building. It was incredble to see modern art in the midst of such old machinery in a really cool building. It is so fun to have class outside the classroom because experiencing these places moves me in a way that cannot be done just by reading about it.

After Wapping, Natalie and I cooked spaghetti for each other.. it even had meat in it! We were treating ourselves, but there were some challenges along the way. :) Then we had to leave by 8 to get to the National Theatre in time to see the play, Every Good Boy Deserves Favour. It was an excellent play, although I did not understand some of it's deeper meanings. There was also an orchestra incorporated with the production that was absolutely brilliant. The best part was seeing and hearing Alan Rickman, who plays Snape in Harry Potter!! I was standing right next to him, but unfortunately, I didn't get his autograph or picture. It is still so exciting to have been in his presence! After the play, we just went back to the flats and are getting ready for a HUGE day tomorrow. At least after all that is done tomorrow, it will be the weekend for us!
